Sustainability involves making decisions and taking action that are in the interests of protecting the natural world, with particular emphasis on preserving the capability of the environment to support human life. It is an important topic at the present time, as people are realizing the full impact that businesses and individuals can have on the environment.
Gold Medal’s goal is to become 100% landfill free.
This means that Gold Medal will dispose of all of your waste and recycling in a useful and non-polluting way. We want to use it all. This means keeping as much material as possible out of landfills. By not using landfills – it is better for the environment and keeps costs down for everyone involved.
Gold Medal collects and processes over 150,000 tons of recyclable materials each year avoiding landfill disposal. Additionally, the majority of waste collected by Gold Medal is delivered to waste-to-energy (“WTE”) facilities creating a fuel for electric power.
Sustainability is about making responsible decisions that will reduce your business’ negative impact on the environment. It is not simply about reducing the amount of waste you produce or using less energy but is concerned with developing processes that will lead to businesses becoming completely sustainable in the future.
Gold Medal is committed to doing its part to reduce America’s dependence on imported oil. The Company is committed to helping ensure a clean air environment for the communities we serve. We are doing “Whatever It Takes” to help keep our planet safe.
